The scale of this stunning mirror is such that it may be used as a large overmantle /wall mirror or equally suitable as a floor standing leaner or dressing mirror. The wide gilded frame is decorated with a pronounced egg and dart design between two plain gilded borders. A complete continuous row of gilded gesso beads sit neatly to the edge of the original mirror plate. Some minor clouding to the mirror otherwise a good clear plate. The original gilded surface has faded a little in places revealing the reddish bole basecoat creating a warm contrast of colours. Later backboard. French gilded mirror circa 1880.
