Overmantle mirror

A 19th century French overmantle/wall mirror from the Louis Philippe period. Superb original gilding with just a little historical wear revealing the rich earthy basecoat beneath. A continuous row of plump gilded beads frame the later glass mirror plate. Gilded French overmantle mirror circa 1840.

Gilded wall mirror

A small 19th century wall mirror. The frame to this pretty mirror has retained its original gilded surface over the past century and more gathering a few historical rub marks on the way only enhancing its appearance. The gilded frame has a narrow wooden border to the outside edge which still shows the original deep green painted surface creating a pleasing contrast of green and gold. Walnut commode

An early 19th century French burr walnut commode. Slightly smaller in scale but with enormous style. The original marble top to this pretty commode has varying pink and grey flecks and veining making it a little more unusual than the traditional grey. Below are four drawers. The top narrow drawer sits above three further drawers, each with a solid steel key for opening. The drawer fronts have book matched walnut veneers creating a unique swirling pattern. All drawers run smoothly and fit well within the sturdy burr walnut carcass. Beautiful rich colour with deep patina which has developed over the passage of time. The original circular marble top sits neatly upon a deep apron having the added bonus of a useful drawer housed within, the whole being raised upon four elegant tapering walnut legs united by a decorative shaped walnut shelf to the centre. Pair of cast iron urns

A pair of 19th century cast iron garden urns. Later modern day paint has carefully been removed to reveal the crisp detail, casting and superb condition of these quality cast iron Campana urns. In doing so we can now see layers of historical paint applied over the past century and more creating a wonderfully atmospheric textured surface with varying earthy muted colours, including fawn, terracotta and cream with a touch of blue. The tall elegant ribbed and fluted sides are complimented by the egg and dart detail to the rims. Heavy gauge English cast iron urns circa 1850.

Oval dining table

A large 19th century oval cherrywood dining table. The larger scale of this evocative table is such that it will comfortably seat ten especially with the added bonus of having gently rounded ends. The top is formed from six heavy dense cherrywood timbers which have seasoned to a beautiful rich colour over the past century and a half. We have adapted the table slightly by making the top detachable for ease of transport due to its sheer density and thickness of the timber. It can easily be removed if necessary then secured into place as required. The table top sits neatly upon slightly tapering solid cherrywood legs all united by a shallow apron, a useful drawer is housed within. A good substantial fruitwood dining table. France circa 1870.

Burr walnut commode

A 19th century walnut commode. The closely gathered grain and burrs to this handsome commode are enhanced by its depth of colour which has developed over the past 150 years. In this time it has a gathered a richly patinated surface giving atmospheric appeal. To the top sits the original grey marble flecked with white veining and fossils. Below are five substantial drawers each separated by a raised half round moulding. The drawers fit well and run smoothly. The top four drawers each have a key, purely for opening, a fifth drawer can be found within the plinth base, all housed within the sturdy, solid wooden carcass. Cleaned, polished, woodworm treated purely as a precautionary measure ready to be used within the home. A lovely example of a burr walnut commode of this period and design. France circa 1880.

A 19th century French marble top commode chest of drawers. This elegant commode chest boasts the prettiest walnut veneers to the drawer fronts creating a unique book matched pattern. The top drawer has hidden grooves to the sides for easy opening. The middle three drawers have the benefit of two decorative antiqued brass handles with matching escutcheons. A fifth secret drawer can be found within the plinth base. All drawers fitting perfectly within the carcass. The whole being raised on low concave walnut feet. Georgian elm chest of drawers

An early 19th century English Elm chest of drawers. Always a bonus to discover an English country chest of drawers in solid Elm. The top to the carcass shows two Elm timbers, the sides also Elm all raised on sturdy bracket feet. Housed within are four long drawers, each drawer with its original brass swan neck handles and original blue lining paper. The drawers are oak lined. The surface colour has mellowed to the richest golden brown over the past two centuries with a deep historical patina. This handsome country house chest of drawers has recently be cleaned, inspected for woodworm and generally checked to ensure all the drawers fit well and run smoothly. A large substantial English Elm chest of drawers circa 1820.
